Sporting KC announces radio broadcast partners for 2023 Major League Soccer season

Sporting Kansas City announced on Monday new media partnerships with Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM to continue as the club’s English- and Spanish-language radio partners, respectively.

Both radio stations will produce live broadcasts for all Sporting Kansas City matches throughout the 2023 Major League Soccer season, which begins tonight as Sporting takes on the Portland Timbers at 9 p.m. CT at Providence Park in Portland, Ore. Additionally, the Sports Radio 810 WHB broadcast audio will be available as an option for fans in the U.S. and Canada to select for Sporting KC home matches streaming on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

Sports Radio 810 WHB’s commentary will be led by play-by-play voice Aly Trost Martin and analyst Jacob Peterson with additional guest analysts joining broadcasts over the course of the season. Trost Martin has covered the club for Sports Radio 810 WHB since 2019 and served as the team’s sideline reporter from 2021-2022. Peterson, a 12-year MLS veteran including five years with Sporting KC, has called Sporting matches each of the last three seasons and joined the club’s technical staff in 2022.

Trost Martin will also co-host the weekly Sporting KC Show with Nate Bukaty on Sports Radio 810 WHB, as well as the station’s Final Whistle post-match show. Sports Radio 810 WHB daily programming will also regularly feature interviews with Sporting KC players, coaches and executives, highlighted by Willy Agada,  Erik Thommy, John Pulskamp and Peter Vermes  all joining shows last week.

La Grande 1340 AM’s commentary team will feature Diego Gutierrez, Emmily Infante and Josue Orantes. Gutierrez is a 13-year MLS veteran, including six seasons in Kansas City, and the former MLS All-Star and U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder has called Sporting KC matches since 2014. Orantes first joined the broadcast booth for La Grande 1340 AM in 2018 while Infante joined the commentary team in 2022.

Owned by Reyes Media Group along with La X 1250 AM, Dos Mundos Radio 1480 AM and Dos Mundos newspaper, La Grande 1340 AM is Kansas City’s top Spanish radio station and plays the best in Top 40 Mexican regional music with a station format addressing the musical tastes of first- and second-generation individuals of Mexican origin. Sporting will begin the 2023 campaign on the road against the Portland Timbers tonight and the season opener will be broadcast live for free on MLS Season Pass  on Apple TV, Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM. Sporting Kansas City’s home schedule begins March 11 against the LA Galaxy at Children’s Mercy Park.
