“Over the last seven years, we have been pleased with the number of talented players who have taken part in our open tryouts,” said Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes. “We are always looking to improve our roster and these tryouts give us a chance to look at players who might be trying to take a less conventional route to MLS.”

The two-day event annually attracts players from across the United States and beyond for the opportunity to be evaluated by the Sporting Kansas City technical staff. Top performers from Saturday's sessions earn the opportunity to return on Sunday, at which point select finalists are then invited to join Sporting Kansas City's first team for an extended trial in pursuit of an MLS contract.

The club first organized open tryouts in the buildup to the team's inaugural season in 1996. More recently, Sporting KC has welcomed prospective professionals each year since 2008 when two players -- Nelson Pizarro and Kevin Souter -- were signed by Vermes and went on to appear in 14 matches across all competitions.

Participants must pay all expenses (registration fee, travel costs, etc.), however discounted hotel rooms are available for out-of-town players. For more information, visit the 2015 Open Tryouts webpage on SportingKC.com.
