For the second time in quick succession, Sporting Kansas City will have a new No. 10.
After teenage midfielder Gianluca Busio donned the heralded number for the first four months of the 2021 MLS season, it will belong to playmaker Gadi Kinda beginning in 2022.
The 27-year-old Kinda will fill the No. 10 void left by Busio's departure to Venezia FC in the Italian Serie A. He has worn No. 17 since joining Sporting ahead of the 2020 season.
Kinda, an Israeli international, has enjoyed an excellent two-year stint with Sporting, who have competed at or near the top of the Western Conference since his arrival. He has 10 goals and six assists in 36 appearances for the club across all competitions, including four goals and two assists during the 2021 campaign.
Kinda and Sporting (10-4-4, 34 points) will continue their Supporters' Shield race on Saturday, visiting in-form FC Dallas (5-7-6, 21 points) in a 7:30 p.m. CT kickoff at Toyota Stadium.
