Sporting KC passes in Stage 2 of 2018 MLS Re-Entry Draft

Sporting Kansas City passed on its pick in Stage 2 of the 2018 MLS Re-Entry Draft on Thursday.


Two players were selected in Stage 2 as the Houston Dynamo picked midfielder Tommy McNamara and the LA Galaxy took goalkeeper Matt Lampson.


The MLS offseason will now turn the page to 2019, with the MLS SuperDraft slated for 11 a.m. CT Friday, Jan. 11, at McCormick Place in Chicago. Sporting KC currently holds one pick in each of the four rounds at No. 21, 45, 69 and 93 overall.


With the additions of defender Botond Barath and midfielder Kelyn Rowe this week, Sporting KC now has 26 players under contract for the 2019 season:


Goalkeepers (3): Eric Dick, Tim Melia, Adrian Zendejas


Defenders (10): Botond Barath, Matt Besler, Andreu Fontas, Jaylin Lindsey, Jimmy Medranda, Ike Opara, Seth Sinovic, Graham Smith, Rodney Wallace, Graham Zusi


Midfielders (7): Gianluca Busio, Yohan Croizet, Roger Espinoza, Felipe Gutierrez, Kelyn Rowe, Ilie Sanchez, Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal
