The 95-degree weather didn't stop thousands of Sporting KC fans from heading to the Kansas City Zoo on Saturday for the second annual Sporting KC Day at the Zoo. The day kicked off with the Rare Experience Walk in Swope Park to raise money for rare disease patients and The Victory Project.
The festivities then continued inside the Kansas City Zoo. Goalkeeper coach John Pascarella hosted a futsal clinic that was open to the public. Meanwhile, Sporting KC winger Brad Davis and defender Seth Sinovic got high fives and kisses from the sea lions. Midfielder Benny Feilhaber, who enlisted help from his two-year-old daughter Sofia and teammate Chance Myers, had the opportunity to paint with the orangutans. After a fan vote, the orangutans were named champions of the paint off.
Thanks to the Kansas City Zoo staff, all four Sporting Kansas City players got to go behind-the-scenes for a meet-and-greet with the penguins to cap off an already excellent afternoon.
