Sporting KC’s Alekzandur cruises to eMLS Cup quarterfinals

Sporting Kansas City eMLS player Alekzandur advanced to the quarterfinals of eMLS Cup 2021 presented by Coca-Cola on Saturday, ousting FC Cincinnati’s Fiddle in convincing fashion with a 7-4 victory on aggregate.

After claiming an eight-place finish across eMLS League One and Two qualifying matches earlier this winter, Alekzandur made the most of his opportunity on Saturday with a dominant performance to kick off the premier event of the 2021 eMLS season.

Alekzandur, who beat Fiddle 3-1 in the first leg and 4-3 in the second leg, has advanced to the decisive day of eMLS Cup action and booked a meeting with top-seeded xbLeU of Austin FC in the quarterfinals.

The eMLS Cup quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will unfold on Sunday, streaming live beginning at 2 p.m. CT on twitch.tv/MLStwitter.com/MLSfacebook.com/MLSMLS YouTube, mlssoccer.com and the free MLS app.

In addition to following Alekzandur on Twitter at @Alekzandur, Sporting fans can follow the @sportinggaming Twitter account for play-by-play updates.

As Sunday approaches, Alekzandur will be competing for a league-record $40,000 eMLS prize pool. Furthermore, the top three eMLS Cup finishers this weekend will qualify directly to the EA SPORTS FIFA 21 Global Series North America Playoffs. The competition is played exclusively on PlayStation 4.
