Looking for the perfect primer ahead of Sporting Kansas City’s biggest international match in club history?

Fitting the bill perfectly is the newest episode of the Sporting KC Show Podcast, which dropped Wednesday night on Sports Radio 810 WHB with hosts Nate Bukaty and Carter Augustine.

The episode opened with a recap of Saturday’s record-breaking 7-1 victory over the Montreal Impact at Children’s Mercy Park, headlined by a Krisztian Nemeth hat-trick, a Johnny Russell brace, two assists from Gerso Fernandes and a goal from 16-year-old Gianluca Busio.

Gerso joined the show to reflect on his recent standout performances and look forward to tonight’s titanic clash with CF Monterrey in the Concacaf Champions League Semifinals. The diminutive winger has two goals and two assists in the tournament this season and will hope to continue his trouble-making ways against Rayados tonight at Estadio BBVA Bancomer, with kickoff slated for 9 p.m. CT on YahooSports.com, the Yahoo Sports app, Univision Deportes, Sports Radio 810 WHB and ESPN Deportes KC 1480 AM.

The Champions League remained the centerpiece of an enlightening interview with ESPN FC’s Tom Marshall, who believes Sporting has a fighting shot to become the first MLS team to win North America’s premier club tournament.
