Sporting KC Show Podcast: Jacob Peterson and Roger Espinoza highlight 2020 season premiere

The Sporting KC Show Podcast, dropping throughout the season on Sports Radio 810 WHB, is now available on Spotify and iTunes. With Nate Bukaty, Jacob Peterson and Carter Augustine hosting the weekly program, Sporting fans have a place to go to catch up on club storylines, player achievements, guest interviews and more.

The 2020 season premiere of the Sporting KC Show Podcast debuted Tuesday night on Sports Radio 810 WHB as hosts Nate Bukaty and Carter Augustine welcomed former fan-favorite and new FOX Sports Kansas City color analyst Jacob Peterson.

Serving as a fast-paced, wide-ranging preview of the 2020 season, the trio also spoke with Sporting midfielder Roger Espinoza, adding plenty of fascinating insight ahead of tonight's preseason match against Phoenix Rising FC at 8 p.m. CT.

The episode began with an update from Peterson, who detailed his career path after leaving Sporting and joining Atlanta United FC ahead of its inaugural 2017 campaign. Although he didn't know it at the time of his arrival to Kansas City in 2012, Peterson ended up falling in love with the city and eagerly awaited his return to the Heartland during his time in Atlanta. The longtime MLS player is now back with his wife and ready to cover a pivotal campaign for a Sporting side that hopes to return to the MLS Cup Playoffs this fall.

Peterson wasn't the only grizzled MLS veteran to appear, however, as the trio then heard from Espinoza about his adventurous offseason, his thoughts about high-profile newcomers such as Alan Pulido and Gadi Kinda, and the keys to bouncing back with a vengeance in 2020.

The program also saved time for plenty of fun tidbits about Peterson's tenure as a Sporting player, as he reflected on his favorite teammates, best moments, biggest games and more.
