Bliss, Sead and Egypt

During a scouting trip to the Middle East earlier this week, two members of the Sporting Kansas City technical staff were welcomed by a leading member of the U.S. Embassy in Egypt.

Sporting KC Technical Director and Vice President of Player Personnel Brian Bliss and Sporting KC Director of Scouting and Player Development Sead Karaselimovic met with U.S. Ambassador Jonathan R. Cohen, who in November 2019 was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Bliss and Karaselimovic gathered with Ambassador Cohen in Cairo, Egypt, as part of their journey abroad, which included scouting stops in multiple countries throughout the region.

Ambassador Cohen previously served as the Acting Representative of the U.S. to the United Nations as well as Deputy Representative to the United Nations. His earlier roles include serving as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs covering Cyprus, Greece and Turkey; Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Iraq; Acting Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in France; Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Cyprus and as Counselor for Political-Military Affairs in at the U.S. Embassy in Italy.
