Sporting KC to host Season Kickoff Watch Party on Feb. 25 at Chicken N Pickle in Overland Park

Due to severe winter weather in the Portland area, Major League Soccer announced  that Sporting Kansas City’s opening match of the 2023 season against the Portland Timbers at Providence Park in Portland, Ore., has been moved to Monday, Feb. 27 and will kick off at 9 p.m. CT.

Sporting Kansas City’s Season Kickoff event on Saturday at Chicken N Pickle (5901 W. 135th St.) in Overland Park, Kan. will remain scheduled from 6-8 p.m. CT for Season Ticket Members who have already reserved a ticket. The event will end at 8 p.m. CT and will not be open to the general public. All fans who reserved a ticket via SeatGeek for the watch party at Chicken N Pickle from 8-11:30 p.m. will receive information from the club.

Chicken N Pickle, an official pub partner of Sporting Kansas City, opened its Overland Park location in 2021 and was named the 2022 Small Business of the Year by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. The destination features an indoor/outdoor entertainment complex with leisure games - including cornhole, Battleship, Jenga, bocce and ping pong - for guests, as well as a full-service restaurant and sports bar.

Led by Manager Peter Vermes and captain Johnny Russell, Sporting will begin the team's 28th season on the road against the Portland Timbers at Providence Park with the earliest regular season match in club history on Feb. 27 The season opener will air live on MLS Season Pass, a new subscription service from Apple and MLS that will stream every match of the regular season, Audi MLS Cup Playoffs and Leagues Cup with no blackouts.

Sporting Kansas City’s home schedule begins March 11 against the LA Galaxy at Children’s Mercy Park. Season tickets are available by calling 888-4KC-GOAL or by visiting SportingKC.com. Additional ticket packages and promotions are available as well as single-match tickets for the club's first eight regular season home matches.
