SPORTING RETURNS TO ACTION NEXT WEEK

Occupying second place in the Supporters' Shield standings, Sporting Kansas City (8-3-2, 26 points) is off this week and will return to competitive action on Wednesday, July 21, when they host the San Jose Earthquakes (3-7-2, 11 points) in a 7:30 p.m. CT kickoff at Children's Mercy Park. GOLD CUP CONTINUES IN KANSAS CITY

The 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup will continue this week as Sporting Kansas City midfielder Gianluca Busio and forward Alan Pulido compete for the United States and Mexico, respectively.

Busio and the United States will conclude their Group B campaign with two matches at Children's Mercy Park, facing Martinique at 9 p.m. CT on Thursday (FS1, FOX Sports app, TUDN and UniMas) and Canada at 4 p.m. CT on Sunday (FOX, FOX Sports app, TUDN and Univision). Thursday's game is the nightcap of a stadium doubleheader as Canada and Haiti square off at 6:30 p.m. CT (FS1, FOX Sports app, TUDN). Pulido and Mexico will finish Group A with two matches at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, meeting Guatemala at 9 p.m. CT on Wednesday and El Salvador at 9 p.m. CT on Sunday. Both contests will be shown live on FS1, FOX Sports app, TUDN and Univision. Should they finish in the top two of their respective four-team groups, the U.S. and Mexico will advance to the Gold Cup knockout stage, with the quarterfinals scheduled for July 24-25.
