Sporting Kansas City (7-3-2, 23 points) earned consecutive home victories last week over the Colorado Rapids and LAFC to move within two points of first place in the Supporters’ Shield standings. 

Manager Peter Vermes’ men will look to continue their winning ways on Sunday when the club visits LA Galaxy (7-3-0, 21 points) for a marquee Fourth of July showdown at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The Western Conference clash will kick off at 9:30 p.m. CT with three hours of live coverage beginning at 9 p.m. CT on Bally Sports Kansas City, Bally Sports Midwest Plus, BallySports.com and the Bally Sports app. The contest will also air locally on Sports Radio 810 WHB (English) and La Grande 1340 AM (Spanish), with The Final Whistle postgame show immediately following on 810 WHB.

The Sporting Kansas City Academy U-19s have advanced to the quarterfinals of the inaugural MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs at Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas. Tuesday morning’s quarterfinal matchup will see Sporting face Chicago Fire FC at 9 a.m. CT with live updates on Twitter at @SKCAcademy. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Thursday, with the tournament final slated for Saturday.

A new episode of the Sporting KC Show Podcast will debut at 6:30 p.m. CT Tuesday on Sports Radio 810 WHB. Hosts Nate Bukaty, Aly Trost and Conall McCourt will hear from a Sporting guest, recap the club’s successful week of MLS action and look ahead to Sunday’s battle against the Galaxy. Hot off a wild 3-2 road win over Memphis 901 FC on Saturday, Sporting Kansas City II (2-6-4, 10 points) will continue their USL Championship campaign on Friday when they host Central Division heavyweights Louisville City FC (5-2-2, 17 points). Kickoff at Children’s Mercy Park is set for 7 p.m. CT and the game will stream live on ESPN Plus.
