Sporting KC Weekly Schedule: March 1-5, 2022

Sporting Kansas City will host Houston Dynamo FC at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday in the club's highly anticipated home opener at Children's Mercy Park. Tickets are available online at SeatGeek.com and all fans in attendance will receive a Sporting KC rally towel courtesy of match sponsor Central Bank of the Midwest.

The Western Conference match-up will be locally televised on 38 The Spot with coverage from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. CT on Saturday in addition to a national television audience on Univision and TUDN, as well as a live stream on Twitter. Radio coverage will be available on ESPN 94.5 FM and La Grande 1340 AM.

Last month, Sporting Kansas City unveiled the club's new secondary jersey for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Fans can place pre-orders online at MLSstore.com, with free shipping until 10:59 p.m. CT tonight with the code MLSFS, or sign up to be notified by SportingStyle - and receive free jersey customization - when the kit is in stock at Children's Mercy Park. 

OPEN TRAINING

On Wednesday, Sporting Kansas City will host an open training session for fans from 10-11 a.m. CT at Children's Mercy Park. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m. CT and after the conclusion of training, Manager Peter Vermes and captain Johnny Russell will participate in a Q&A as part of the club's Media Day. The event is free for the public to attend, however fans are asked to reserve a ticket in advance via SeatGeek.

SKCvHOU SPORTING ONE REPLAY

On Wednesday, the Sporting KC mobile app will replay the team's 2020 home opener against Houston Dynamo FC at 6 p.m. CT via the Sporting One video platform as part of the Sporting One Classics series. The stream will be available to viewers in Kansas and Missouri (excluding the St. Louis area per MLS policy) for a look back at the club's memorable 4-0 victory with goals from Alan Pulido, Roger Espinoza, Gadi Kinda and Khiry Shelton.

SPORTING KC SHOW

A new edition of The Sporting KC Show will air on Sports Radio 810 WHB from 8-9 p.m. CT on Wednesday with hosts Nate Bukaty and Aly Trost. The Sporting KC Show Podcast is available on Spotify, iTunes and SportingKC.com, giving supporters a weekly destination to catch up on club storylines, player achievements, guest interviews and more.

CONCACAF U-20 CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW

Concacaf will conduct the official draw for the 2022 Concacaf Men's U-20 Championship at 10 a.m. CT on Thursday at Concacaf headquarters in Miami. The tournament will be played in Honduras from June 18-July 3, 2022 and will determine the region's representatives at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup and 2024 Summer Olympics. Sporting KC defender Kayden Pierre is part of the United States U-20 player pool and fans can follow the draw via the Concacaf app, website, Facebook page and/or YouTube channel. 

KC CAULDRON STREETCAR REVEAL

Sporting KC and the KC Cauldron have collaborated to create a fan-driven KC Streetcar design focused on celebrating the fans that fill the Supporters' Stand at Children's Mercy Park on matchdays. Pershing Rd.) in downtown Kansas City.  

VICTORY PROJECT COLORING CONTEST

The Victory Project is accepting entries until 11:59 p.m. CT on Friday for a Kick Childhood Cancer coloring contest. Local youth are encouraged to design a scarf and t-shirt for Sporting Kansas City's 2022 Kick Childhood Cancer match on Sept. 17 at Children's Mercy Park. The coloring pages are available online to download and print with entries to be emailed to thevictoryproject@sportingkc.com.

SPORTING ADULT SOCCER LEAGUES

Friday is also the deadline to register for the spring season of the Sporting Adult Soccer League, which will begin March 14 at Compass Minerals Sporting Fields in Kansas City, Kan. Three divisions of play are available - Open Division for 18+ on Mondays, Co-Ed Division for 18+ on Tuesdays and Men's Over 30 Division on Wednesdays - and registration is available online.

SKC ACADEMY DOUBLEHEADER

The Sporting Kansas City Academy U14's, U15's and U17's will resume their MLS NEXT campaigns on Saturday morning against Austin FC, playing a doubleheader at Swope Soccer Village (6310 Lewis Rd.) in Kansas City. Admission is free and open to the public as the U14's and U17's kick off the doubleheader at 9 a.m. CT, followed by the U15's at 11 a.m. CT. Fans can follow @SKCAcademy on Twitter for in-game updates throughout the MLS NEXT season.

SPORTING KC II IN TULSA

On Saturday, Sporting KC II will continue the team's preseason with an exhibition match at USL Championship side FC Tulsa. The scrimmage will kick off at 2 p.m. CT and updates will be available from @SportingKCII on Twitter.
