Having secured a berth in the 2014 MLS Cup Playoffs, Sporting Kansas City will play their final regular season road game at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday at PPL Park against the Philadelphia Union. Saturday's match will air locally on KMCI-TV 38 the Spot and across the Midwest on SKCTV with pre-game coverage beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT.
Beginning at 10 a.m. CT today, Sporting Kansas City Season Ticket Members have access to purchase a three-game playoff ticket package for their current seat location(s). This exclusive opportunity lasts until 10 a.m. CT on Monday, Oct. 20. The playoff invoice is located through the online Sporting KC Account Manager and more information is available online at SportingKC.com.
Sporting Park will host the opening four games of the 2014 CONCACAF Women's Championship with international doubleheaders on Wednesday and Thursday this week. The No. 1 ranked U.S. Women's National Team headlines the eight-team competition, which will qualify three teams directly to the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Single-day tickets to see Wednesday or Thursday's doubleheaders are available online at Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 or at Kansas City area Ticketmaster centers. The tournament kicks off on Tuesday with Guatemala-Haiti (5 p.m. CT) and USWNT-Trinidad (7:30 p.m. CT), followed by Jamaica-Martinique (5 p.m. CT) and Costa Rica-Mexico (7:30 p.m. CT).
Tonight, Sporting KC forward C.J. Sapong will make a special appearance from 6-7:30 p.m. CT at Jack in the Box in Kansas City, Kansas (10630 Parallel Pkwy.). The MLS Cup trophy will be on site, Monster Tacos will be on special for $0.44 and fans in attendance can enter a raffle to win an autographed jersey.
Tomorrow, U.S. Women's National Team defender Becky Sauerbrunn will participate in a Q&A with fans at 1:30 p.m. CT on Sporting Kansas City's Facebook page. Sauerbrunn -- a two-time NWSL Defender of the Year for FC Kansas City -- represented the United States at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup and the 2012 Olympics.
Sporting KC and Frito Lay have teamed up for a month-long contest, providing fans of the team an opportunity to win an autographed soccer ball plus tickets to a Sporting KC home game. Fans can enter the contest by taking a photo with their favorite bag of Frito Lay chips while wearing Sporting KC apparel and sharing the photo to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #SKCFritoFan. One lucky winner will be selected today via a random drawing.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Men's National Team hosts Honduras at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida in an international friendly that could feature three Sporting Kansas City players who played in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Matt Besler and Graham Zusi were added to the U.S. MNT roster on Saturday, while midfielder Jorge Claros started and played the full 90 minutes for Honduras on Thursday in a 2-0 loss at Mexico. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday and the match can be seen live on ESPN, WatchESPN, UniMas and ESPN Deportes Radio.
On Saturday, the Sporting Kansas City under-16 and under-18 Academy teams will host Texas Rush in U.S. Soccer Development Academy action at Swope Soccer Village. All Academy home matches are open to the public and free to attend.
