Out and About

Sporting Red, White and BLUE

Hopefully everyone's holiday weekend consisted of summer sun, waterparks, sports and #Winning. For Sporting Kansas City players it was all of the above and then some!

Sporting KC strikers Soony Saad and Dom Dwyer spent their Fourth of July as celebrity judges in the Boogie Bahn competition at Schlitterbahn Kansas City Waterpark. Competitors travelled from surrounding cities, including a talented group that made the ten-hour voyage from Texas to perform in the high-thrill event. The professional athletes admitted it was far more challenging than they would have imagined, giving substantial credit to the surfers that participated.

After the conclusion of the surfing competition, Saad and Dwyer weren't ready to leave just yet. They opted for a relaxing float down the Torrent River before departing.

Graham Zusi and Matt Besler continued the fun as they threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Kansas City Royals game against the Oakland Athletics on Friday night. Besler tossed a quality fastball from the pitcher's mound that landed just slightly outside the strike zone. Although, we are fairly certain that the imaginary batter went down swinging.

And finally, Sporting KC wrapped up the weekend with three points defeating the Chicago Fire 2-1 at Toyota Park on Sunday.
