Known for his aggressive defensive style, Moisés Mosquera has earned a reputation in Major League Soccer as a fierce player. But beyond the tough exterior lies a personality that's vibrant, joyful, someone who enjoys life both on and off the pitch.
Moisés began his soccer story later than most. Around the age of 12 or 13, Moisés was invited to play soccer by a friend, and while soccer wasn't a sport he was initially interested in, he found himself drawn into the game. At the early start of his career, Moisés wasn’t clearing goals but rather trying to make them.
“I started out playing as a winger, not a defender,” Moisés laughed. “And then because of my height, my qualities—I was very strong—that's when the coach found a better position for me, which was defense.”
There is no doubt that Moisés thrives on intensity and competition, using his skills and his stature to dominate opponents, but off the pitch, he's a different person, and he'll be the first to let you know.
“Moisés off the pitch is someone joyful,” he shares. “Someone who always likes to be happy, playing video games every now and then—now with the baby, I don't have as much time— but I always like sharing time with my teammates, getting to know them, and having them get to know me too. So yeah, I think that's the person off the pitch”.
In the three months since he’s joined the team and moved to KC, Moisés has found excitement and happiness in both.
“Since I arrived, they [the team] treated me very well,” He shared. “They welcomed me excellently. And well, I think that's what a player needs when arriving at a new club, right? That welcome, how they receive you. So, I think I've felt very happy, very comfortable here since I arrived”.

What do you like to do? You mentioned you play video games. What video games?
God of War, which is very good, I really love it. FIFA 26, I also play that a lot. And my favorite game is Need for Speed: Most Wanted on PlayStation 2
So, you still have your old PlayStation?
Yeah, yeah, the old one, I have it, that’s my favorite. And I only keep it for that game.
What type of music do you like the most?
Well, to be honest with you, I listen to a lot of music in English. A lot, a lot of music. Travis Scott, Gunna, Future, Lil Baby… I love it. In Spanish, I really like trap, my favorite is Anuel.
If you had a walk-out song, what song would you want us to play in the stadium?
It’s in English, it’s ‘Dumb, Dumb and Dumber’.
Do you watch a lot of TV, movies, and series?
I love Netflix. The last one… right now I’m watching Fauda, and before that it was Beauty in Black.
And when you go on vacation, do you prefer the beach, mountains, or the city?
Beach, always beach. Sea and sand.
Are you someone who wakes up very early, or do you like to stay up late?
At the exact same time always, 8:00 AM sharp. But when the baby was born, I used to wake up at 6:00 AM.
If you were one of the Avengers, which one would you be, and why do you like that superhero?
Hulk. I like that one because he represents me; he goes all out, he’s aggressive, without caring about anything!
