Sporting Kansas City (17-10-7, 3rd Seed) is set to open the 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs this afternoon when the team hosts Vancouver Whitecaps FC (12-9-13, 6th Seed) at Children’s Mercy Park in Round One. It’s the first-ever postseason encounter between the two teams and the winner will go on to take on either Seattle Sounders FC or Real Salt Lake in the Western Conference Semifinals.
