Wednesday night, Sporting KC learned that they would be playing Real Esteli and Deportivo Saprissa in the group stage of the 2014-15 CONCACAF Champions League.
Remember the last time Sporting KC played Real Esteli? Of course you do ... it happened last September.
But were you there the last time Kansas City played Deportivo Saprissa? The two sides squared off in the quarterfinals of the 2005 CONCACAF Champions' Cup with Saprissa advancing with a 2-1 aggregate score.
Kansas City, with current assistant coach Kerry Zavagnin holding down the midfield, held the Costa Rican side to a scoreless draw at Arrowhead Stadium. Saprissa took care of business at home, however, winning the second leg 2-1 in extra time en route to their third CONCACAF Champions' Cup crown.
