It was the goal heard round the world ... or at least Kansas City.
After scoring the game-tying goal in the 87th minute, Sporting KC midfielder Paulo Nagamura completed Saturday's historic comeback with the game-winning goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Nagamura headed a Soni Mustivar cross past goalkeeper David Ousted to give Sporting KC three points over the top team in the Western Conference.
VOTE: Nagamura's game-winner nominated for MLS Goal of the Week
"That last five minutes was intense," Nagamura said after the match. "Soni played a great ball and I just tried to re-direct the cross and take it away from the goalkeeper."
Nagamura's gusty performance has been recognized by MLS pundits across the League including a selection to MLS Team of the Week. The Brazilian midfielder leads Sporting KC's current roster with 248 league appearances (including playoffs) and has 15 career MLS goals.
Saturday's game-winner was Nagamura's third goal of the year - and his second scored with his head - and has been nominated for MLS Goal of the Week. Voting is open on MLSsoccer.com until Friday morning at 1:59 a.m. CT.
