Voting for the 2014 Major League Soccer Goal of the Year kicked off Tuesday morning. Similar to past years, the AT&T Goal of the Year competition will be decided from a field of 64 goals. The field is comprised of 32 Goal of the Week winners plus 32 additional goals chosen by MLSsoccer.com editors.
Sporting KC has three goals in contention with Graham Zusi taking home two Goal of the Week honors and Dom Dwyer grabbing one for his Week 4 game-winner against the Colorado Rapids.
The first opportunity to #VoteSporting comes Tuesday as Zusi's Week 20 strike against Toronto FC lands in Group A along with goals from Obafemi Martins, Federico Higuain and Robbie Keane.
Zusi's goal proved critical for Sporting KC as the team battled back from a one-goal deficit at the break. The MLS All-Star and World Cup veteran wasted no time leveling the score, picking up a loose ball at the top of the penalty box and sending a shot into the corner of the net past a helpless Joe Bendik. After Matt Besler earned a red card with 15 minutes left in the match, Jacob Peterson's game-winner in the 80th minute gave the visitors a much-deserved three points.
Voting for Zusi's group along with Groups B, C and D will be open until 1:59 a.m. CT on Thursday, October 30. The top two vote-getters from each group will advance to the Second Round.
All fans who vote, and fill out this form, will be entered to win one of two VIP packages for two to MLS Cup 2014.
