SPORTING KC HEADS WEST TO FACE THE COLORADO RAPIDS ON SATURDAY
Sporting KC will take on the Colorado Rapids at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The match will be televised locally on 38 the Spot and across the Midwest on SKCTV with pre-game coverage beginning at 4:30 p.m. CT. Fans can also listen to broadcasts locally on ESPN 102.9 FM and La Gran D 1340 AM.


More than 700 Sporting Kansas City supporters will make the trip to Commerce City, Colo. and all fans are invited to the team's official watch party at Johnny's Tavern in the KC Power & Light District. All fans are encouraged to attend and the watch party will feature food and drink specials including select Boulevard drafts as well as the "Blue Believer" signature cocktail (Dragon Berry, Lemon-Lime Red Bull and Blue Curacao).


Sporting KC is undefeated in their last seven matches against the Rapids, most recently earning a 2-1 victory in August of 2013 at Sporting Park.


ZUSI AND BESLER NAMED TOU.S. MNT ROSTER FOR MEXICO FRIENDLY
Sporting Kansas City defender Matt Besler and midfielder Graham Zusi are among 22 players on the U.S. Men’s National Team roster for next week’s international friendly against Mexico, U.S. Soccer announced on Wednesday. Both players will be available for Sporting Kansas City’s match at the Colorado Rapids on Saturday before joining the U.S. Men’s National Team.


The No. 14-ranked United States Men’s National Team will play No. 20-ranked Mexico at 10 p.m. CT on Wednesday, April 2 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. The match will be shown live on ESPN, WatchESPN and UniMas with radio coverage available on the ESPN Deportes Radio Network. Read today's full announcement here.


DOM DWYER PK GIVES SPORTING KC 1-0 VICTORY OVER SAN JOSE
Sporting KC defeated the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 at Sporting Park last weekend. Dom Dwyer's penalty kick in the 57th minute would stand as the game-winning goal and mark Sporting KC’s eighth consecutive victory against San Jose at home.


Saturday's match was Sporting Kansas City's fifth in a 15-day span to open the 2014 season. Sporting KC played Cruz Azul in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals last Wednesday. While Benny Feilhaber’s 43rd minute strike gave Sporting KC the advantage going into the half, Cruz Azul ultimately eliminated Sporting KC from the 2013-14 edition of the CCL tournament. Sporting KC will begin the group stage of the 2014-15 CCL later on this year.


THE SPORTING KC SHOW WILL AIR TONIGHT
The Sporting KC Show will air from 7-8 p.m. CT tonight on Sports Radio 810 WHB. Hosts Callum Williams and Andy Edwards will be joined by Sporting KC striker Dom Dwyer and Colorado Rapids play-by-play announcer Richard Fleming to preview this weekend’s match.

SPORTING KANSAS CITY WAIVES JOSH GARDNER
Sporting Kansas City announced on Tuesday that the club has waived defender Josh Gardner. The 31-year-old appeared in nine MLS matches, three CONCACAF Champions League games and two U.S. Open Cup fixtures for sporting KC since joining the club in December 2012.


With the departure of Gardner, and midfielder Peterson Joseph currently on the Disabled list, Sporting KC has one on-budget roster spot available. Sporting KC’s roster – the third youngest in Major League Soccer – has 28 players under contract.


SPORTING KC IN FINALS OF KCSOURCELINK’S BATTLE OF THE BRANDS
Sporting Kansas City has reached the final round of KCSourceLink.com's Battle of the Brands and will face Red Nova Labs in the championship match-up. The competition started with 64 organizations in a bracket-style tournament to crown the area's top business. The final round of voting will begin on Thursday at 9 a.m. CT and close on Friday at 4 p.m. CT.
