Why you'll want to download Sporting KC Uphoria before Saturday's home opener

OK, let’s cut to the chase.

Are you a Sporting KC Uphoria user? Because if not, you’ll want to visit the App Store or Google Play and download the official app of Sporting Kansas City prior to Saturday’s home opener against FC Dallas.

Why? We’ll let Sporting Club CEO Robb Heineman speak to that first:

Indeed, all Uphoria users will automatically give themselves a chance to win match tickets and VIP experiences courtesy of Sporting Club.

But there are also a variety of guaranteed perks for supporters who have Uphoria opened on their smartphones. Let’s jump straight into what fans can expect on Saturday.

Free Oreos from Price Chopper

Several hours before kickoff, Uphoria users will receive an offer card for free Oreo cookies at Kansas City-area Price Chopper locations. Offer cards are a lot like Groupons and just as easy to use: simply visit your local Price Chopper, show the offer to the cashier at checkout and enjoy your free box of Oreos. Offers will appear in the "Alerts" tab on game day.

Mobile Ticketing

Thanks to Sporting KC’s new partnership with SeatGeek, fans can now use Uphoria as their way into Children’s Mercy Park. SeatGeek ticket managing can be found on the “Tickets” tab within the app. A few pointers for game one:

First, make sure your Sporting KC ticket account is linked to SeatGeek.

Dom Dwyer didn’t invent the selfie, he just perfected it. Now Uphoria users can take a selfie with Dom whenever they want thanks to MySKC Cam, a camera within the app. MySKC Cam is located in the “Sporting KC” tab, giving fans the opportunity to share photos on social networks and even appear on the Children’s Mercy Park videoboard. After taking a photo, click “Send to Sporting KC” and your image will enter a queue to appear in the stadium. MySKC Cam gives users five different overlays to choose from.

Experience Upgrades

Want to make your trip to Children’s Mercy Park even more exclusive? Select “Tix City Seat Options” under the “Sporting KC” tab to choose from a variety of Experience upgrades, including:

• UMB Field Club postgame access
• Ameritas Shield Club access
• Photo on the Pitch after the match
• Boulevard Members Club access

Free Beer on Robb Heineman

If you’re at least 21 years old and attending Saturday’s game, join Heineman before kickoff at the beer corner, located at the northeast corner of the stadium near the Boulevard Members Club. Show Heineman your Uphoria app, and he’ll buy you a beer. It’s that easy.

Live Stats and More

Users can access the “Matchday” tab to view extensive live stats in a streamlined format. From lineups and formations to team stats, player stats and box scores, Uphoria provides all the details on match day. The “Sporting KC” tab also includes schedules, rosters, season stats, standings, and Sporting KC Twitter and Instagram feeds, plus the ability to shop for gear.
