Career Summary

2016: Played in nine games for the Swope Park Rangers, starting eight. He was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 2 after a solid defensive performance against Tulsa Roughnecks FC on April 2. VanCompernolle was loaned to former side OKC Energy FC on June 28 and remained there through the end of the 2016 USL season.

2015: After spending time in preseason camp with MLS sides the New England Revolution and the Colorado Rapids, VanCompernolle signed with OKC Energy FC of the USL on Feb. 11. He went on to make 25 appearances in all competitions as a rookie, helping the side claim their first-ever playoff berth. The Energy reached the Western Conference Final before falling to LA Galaxy II on Oct. 11, although VanCompernolle was unavailable in the USL Cup Playoffs due to injury. He played in each of OKC’s two games in the U.S. Open Cup as the side fell in the Fourth Round to FC Dallas on June 17.

College: VanCompernolle was a four-year letterwinner at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, leading the Seahawks to the second round of the NCAA tournament following the team’s first-ever at-large postseason berth as a senior. He made 74 total appearances for the Seahawks, adding eight goals and nine assists in that time while he was a first-team All-CAA and NCCSIA selection. VanCompernolle also earned CAA Defensive Player of the Year and first-team NSCAA Midwest All-Region honors as a senior. While in college, VanCompernolle played for USL Premier Development League side the Ottawa Fury in 2013, making 14 appearances and recording one assist.
