Homegrown Signing Nears

Wizards President Robb Heineman wants more production from his club's strikers.

With a big League match at the Los Angeles Galaxy looming tonight, team President Robb Heineman announced on Twitter moments ago that another big move could be coming soon.

"Hopefully will sign first homegrown this week," Heineman said on Twitter. "Need at least 6 of these kids in Wizards Park by 2013."

Kansas City started the Juniors program in 2007 and now fields four teams, including a pair of fully funded squads that play in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Three members of the U18 team trained with the Wizards first team earlier this month: goalkeeper Jonathan Kempin, defender Konner Knoll and striker Jordan Rideout.
