Sporting Kansas City and the Houston Dynamo meet tonight at 7 p.m. CT in College Station, Texas for the first phase of qualifying toward the 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The last time these two teams tangled was one of the most memorable matches of the 2010 MLS season as Sporting Kansas City Manager Peter Vermes brought his team back from two goals down at halftime to win 4-3 in dramatic fashion on a game-winning goal in the sixth and final minute of second half stoppage time.
Tonight's single-elimination setting will see both sides seeking to advance to the final round of qualifying, with the winner hosting the top team from New England Revolution vs. Philadelphia Union/D.C. United for the right to compete in the 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup proper.
The match will be streamed live above, courtesy of the host Houston Dynamo. Video is expected to begin at 6:30 p.m. CT with audio commentary starting close to kickoff at 7:00 p.m. CT. Fans can also participate in a live chat on SportingKC.com for in-game updates and analysis throughout the contest.
