Sporting Kansas City (2-0-0) are atop the Eastern Conference after back-to-back wins to open the 2012 season. Following a dramatic 1-0 win at D.C. United during MLS First Kick, Sporting KC thrilled a standing-room only crowd at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park with a 3-0 win over the New England Revolution last Saturday. Goals from Graham Zusi, Kei Kamara and C.J. Sapong powered Sporting Kansas City in the victory, while goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen recorded his second straight shutout to start the season.

FC Dallas (1-0-1) are also unbeaten after opening the year with two straight home games. Panama international Blas Perez, signed in January, has led the way for FC Dallas thus far, recording assists on both goals in their 2-1 win over New York to kick off the season and scoring theclub’s lone goal in a 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers last Saturday.

The visitors are likely to be without Designated Players Fabian Castillo and David Ferreira, as well as former KC striker Scott Sealy due to injuries. Meanwhile, both teams will be missing players currently competing in the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Sporting Kansas City striker Teal Bunbury and FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea teamed up in the United States 6-0 win versus Cuba on Thursday, while FC Dallas midfielder Carlos Rodriguez will represent Panama in Group B of the eight-team tournament.

Sunday’s winner will take the lead in the all-time series, currently deadlocked at 19-19-8 between the two original MLS clubs.Sporting KC holds a 10-8-5 advantage at home in the series, but lost the lone meeting at LSP last year after FC Dallas stole a 3-2 win with three goals in the game's final 20 minutes.
