NPL: Juniors go 4-for-4

The Sporting Kansas City Under-13 and Under-14 Juniors won each of their four matches in the Midwest Developmental League this weekend, putting in dominant performances in their first NPL matches of the year.


The U13's improved to 7-0-0 overall with a 5-0 win over the Madison 56ers on Saturday before walking away with an 8-0 win versus Minnesota Thunder Academy on Sunday. The victories continue the U13's fantastic form in league play, with an astounding 33 goals scored and only two goals conceded. They will face their biggest tests of the season when they host the Chicago Fire Academy (6-1-0) on Saturday and Chicago Magic (7-0-0) on Sunday in a weekend that features the top three teams in the Under-13 Great Lakes Division.


"The boys will look to train hard this week and see how they stack up with two of the best teams in the country," said Sporting KC U13 Juniors head coach Matt Trumpp.


The U14's earned equally impressive results, recording a 6-0 win in their matchup with the Madison 56ers on Saturday and a 4-1 victory over the visiting Minnesota Thunder Academy on Sunday. The weekend sweep sends the squad into fifth place in the Great Lakes Division with a 4-2-1 record and head coach Dustin Ottesen's side will have an opportunity to climb further when the face fourth place Chicago Fire Academy (6-1-0) on Saturday and first place Chicago Magic (6-1-1) on Sunday at home.
