The Sporting Kansas City Under-13 and Under-14 Juniors were crowned champions at the 2012 Mother's Day Classic this weekend at the Overland Park Soccer Complex. The U13's, playing in the U13 Gold Pool B, recorded a 6-0 victory over Premier Green and a 1-0 win over the Wichita Cyclones to reach the semifinals on Sunday against Sporting BVSC 98/99. A 4-1 win advanced the team into the finals, where they again scored four goals in a 4-0 victory versus the Cyclones.
The U14's played up in the U15-16 Boys Gold division but had little trouble en route to clinching the championship title. Opening the tourney with a 4-0 win over U16 USL, the Juniors went on to secure their berth in the final with a 3-1 win over 96 Wichita Lightning and 6-0 victory in the group play finale against Springfield SC 95/96. The U14's closed out the weekend with a 6-1 win in a rematch with U16 USL to give the Juniors eight wins in eight games at the tournament.
