USSDA: Three games left for 16s, 18s

The Sporting Kansas City Under-16 and Under-18 Juniors have three games remaining in the 2011-12 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season, following Friday's doubleheader against the Minnesota Thunder Academy.

The U18's fell 1-0 on a goal from Adama Keita (Prairie Seeds Academy) in the 74th minute, his second game-winning goal of the year against Sporting Kansas City and team-leading eighth of the season. The Juniors are now 2-6-3 in the Frontier Division and 6-9-3 overall.

Despite the defensive display in the opener, the goals came by the bunches in the second match at Swope on Friday with the U18's coming up one short in a 4-3 defeat. Rockhurst sophomore Cole Stevenson tallied a hat trick for Sporting with goals in the 15th, 30th and 70th minutes and now has 11 goals on the campaign as the squad's top scorer. Logan Bunbury, younger brother of Sporting Kansas City striker Teal Bunbury, opened the scoring for Minnesota in the 18th minute while Matthew Gweh struck twice with goals in the 28th and 47th minutes. Samuel Forsgren got the game-winner in the 54th minute as Minnesota moves one point ahead of Sporting Kansas City (3-3-5, 5-5-8) in the standings.

The Juniors will travel north to face Shattuck-Saint Mary's Soccer Academy on Friday before closing out the season at home against St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri (June 10) and Colorado Rush (June 16).
