Boris Pardo, the goalkeeper coach for the Sporting Kansas City Juniors, will travel to Guatemala with the United States Futsal National Team this weekend. One of 16 players on the trip, the team will play four friendlies against professional futsal teams in preparation for the 2012 CONCACAF Futsal Championship, to be held next month at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City. The eight-team tournament serves as the path to qualifying for the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Thailand later this year, with CONCACAF sending it's top four teams to the quadrennial competition.
Pardo first arrived in Kansas City in 2007 as a MLS League Pool goalkeeper and was signed by the club for the 2008 and 2009 seasons. The Seton Hall standout has since played for the Missouri Comets of the MISL each of the last two seasons while serving on the coaching staff for the Sporting Kansas City Juniors youth development academy.
