The Sporting KC Academy U13's concluded the 2011-12 Midwest Developmental League Playoffs with a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire on Sunday in Libertyville, Ill. The team went 2-1-0 in the competition with back-to-back wins over fellow MLS sides.
The U13’s finished atop the Great Lakes Division with a 10-1-1 record to secure their spot at this weekend's three-game tournament. After falling 5-1 to Vardar SC on Friday, the academy team bounced back with a 5-1 win over the Columbus Crew on Saturday.
