The new edition of Sporting Match Day will also feature an article in conjunction with Military Appreciation Night, including the following comments from Manager Peter Vermes and forward C.J. Sapong:

“Being that I have lived outside the country as much as I have, I have a stronger appreciation for the United States,” Vermes said. “The fact that so many people have given up their life for the freedom that we have, for us to have a night like this is great. They deserve our respect and recognition of the sacrifices that they and their families make for the freedom that we have to live in the best country in the world.”

“We dedicate a special moment to veterans before every game,” Sapong said. “It speak volumes to the team, organization and city. We realize that at the end of the day, life is bigger than soccer, and there are a lot of other people who are going through tougher times than us. It’s good to take note of those things and give back to those people to show that we really appreciate what they do.”
