SPORTING KC BEGINS TWO-GAME ROAD TEST TONIGHT AT NY
Sporting Kansas City will make the team’s first of two trips to Red Bull Arena in the final six games of the season at 6 p.m. CT on Wednesday to take on the New York Red Bulls. The match will air live on KSMO-TV and La Gran D 1340 AM in Kansas City, as well as on MyTV Wichita and MyTV Topeka.

Sporting Kansas City, who has held the top spot in the Eastern Conference since the team began its current six-game unbeaten streak in early August, will return to the road for the first time in over a month and will look to continue the team’s record-setting form away from home this season. The club’s 7-4-2 record on the road is the best in MLS this season and the seven regular season away victories are the most in regulation in team history.

Sporting will then head north to face the Montreal Impact at 12 p.m. CT this Saturday. The match will be broadcast live on KCTV5 and La Gran D 1340 AM.

USMNT TO HOST PUBLIC TRAINING AT LSP ON OCT. 14
As part of the continuing effort to connect with the fans, the U.S. Men’s National Team will host a public training session on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 10:30 a.m. CT at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. Admission and parking for the event are free. Fans who pre-register on ussoccer.com will be entered to have a chance to meet U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann at the stadium prior to the training session.

At the session, fans will get a first-hand look at how the National Team prepares for an important match and hear exclusive interviews with Klinsmann and select players. With limited tickets available for the decisive USA-Guatemala match two days later, the event gives more supporters a chance to see the team in action. U.S. Soccer Supporters Club members will have field-level access during the training session. If you are not yet a member, U.S. Soccer SC memberships are available to purchase.

SPORTING KC ACADEMY OPENS SEASON
All four teams in the Sporting Kansas City Academy have begun their 2012-13 seasons this month. The U12 and U14 Academy teams were in action at the Fall 2012 Scouting Showcase on Sept. 8 and 9 in Rockford, Ill. The U12's are playing up one year in the Midwest Developmental League and drew 2-2 with Vardar U13 before falling against Chicago Magic PSG U13.

The U14's opened the weekend with a 2-0 loss to Vardar U14 but rebounded with a 1-1 draw against Chicago Magic PSG U14 on Sunday. Both teams will host St. Louis Scott Gallagher - Metro and St. Louis Scott Gallagher - Missouri this weekend at the Sporting Club Training Center in Swope Park in their first league games in the Gateway division.

The U16 and U18 Academy teams kicked off the U.S. Soccer Development Academy season on Saturday at Swope with a pair of victories over the Colorado Rush. The U18's secured a 3-0 triumph with two goals from Cole Stevenson and a goal from the team's leading scorer last season, Eduardo Moreno. Jacole Turner recorded the clean sheet in net for the U18's. The U16's followed suit with a 2-0 win courtesy of a shutout from Ryan Krutz and the game-winning goal from Dakota Karns in the 67th minute.

Both USSDA partcipants continue play in the Central Conference's Frontier Division as they  go on the road this weekend to face Classics Elite on Saturday and Lonestar SC Academy on Sunday.

LAST MINUTE GOAL EARNS DRAMATIC 1-1 DRAW WITH DYNAMO
Sporting Kansas City drew 1-1 with the Houston Dynamo in front of a sold-out crowd on Friday at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. Down a goal with less than a minute remaining, C.J. Sapong claimed the equalizer in the third minute of stoppage time on a header assisted by Graham Zusi.
Sporting Kansas City, unbeaten in their last six MLS matches, remains in first place in the Eastern Conference with 51 points and are five points back of the San Jose Earthquakes in the Supporters’ Shield race with six games remaining in the regular season.

Zusi earned his 13th assist on the game-tying goal, putting him atop the League in the category on a night that saw Sporting KC record 28 shots, the most in a match in club history. Kei Kamara led all players with 10 shots attempted, one shy of this year’s MLS high which he set earlier this season, and Sapong set a single-game career with nine shots of his own.

KAMARA NOMINATED FOR COURAGE IN SPORTS HONOR ON CBS
Sporting KC forward Kei Kamara, a refugee of Sierra Leone, is nominated for the America’s Choice Honoree for Courage in Sports. The America’s Choice Honoree, determined by fan voting, recognizes individuals who have overcome monumental challenges to achieve greatness in the world of sports. The winner will be announced on a one-hour “Courage in Sports” special airing at 4 p.m. CT on Nov. 11 on CBS.

Eight inspiring individuals have been selected to participate in the Facebook voting. Each week, the two athletes with the lowest vote total will be eliminated from the competition. Fans can vote once per day and share their vote with friends here: facebook.com/CourageInSports. The top two vote getters will compete in the finals from Sept. 24 to Oct. 1.
