The Sporting KC Academy under-14 squad was invited to play a series of matches at the FC Dallas Soccer Complex in Frisco, Texas last month in conjunction with the 12th annual Michael Brown Winter Classic. But these weren't your average friendlies.
In addition to playing the host club FC Dallas to a scoreless draw, the U14's earned a 1-0 victory against the youth squad of Mexico's Santos Laguna (Clausura 2012 champions) and a 4-0 win versus their U14 equivalents from Mexico's Tigres de la UANL (Apertura 2011 champions).
