Kei Kamara named to MLS Team of the Week

Sporting Kansas City forward Kei Kamara has been named to the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week for Week 18. Kamara scored twice - including the game-winning goal in the 80th minute - as Sporting KC earned a 3-2 win over the Columbus Crew on Saturday at Sporting Park.

Kamara's first goal put the home side ahead in the 34th minute and has been nominated for MLS Goal of the Week (Text G4 to 22442 or click here to vote). The Sierra Leone international calmly collected a long ball from Soony Saad and blasted a left-footed strike past goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum. Kamara's game-winning goal came after Claudio Bieler won a header at the top of the Crew penalty box. The ball fell to Kamara who beat Gruenebaum to the near post.

Kamara has scored four goals in his last four league games and has five goals in all competitions since returning from his loan with English Premier League club Norwich City.

Sporting KC winger Soony Saad earned honorable mention honors after assisting on Kamara's goal in his first league appearance since April 20. Saad also completed 93.1% of his passes, the highest among any starter in Saturday's match.

Sporting Kansas City returns to league action Wednesday night with a match against the Vancouver Whitecaps at Sporting Park. Limited tickets are available and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com or at the Sporting Park box office.
