SPORTING KC REMAINS SECOND IN EAST AFTER 1-0 LOSS TO UNION
Sporting Kansas City remains in second place in the Eastern Conference despite dropping a 1-0 decision to the Philadelphia Union at Sporting Park on Friday. The match, sponsored by Ivy Funds, was broadcast nationally on the NBC Sports Network.


The Union's Conor Casey was able to give the visitors an early lead. With the goal on Friday, Casey has now scored six times in 10 matches against Kansas City. Sporting KC outshot Philadelphia 19-8 on Friday but could not find the equalizer.

SPORTING KC TRAVELS TO CREW STADIUM TO FACE COLUMBUS ON SATURDAY
Sporting Kansas City faces the Columbus Crew on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. CT at Crew Stadium, marking the second match between these two clubs in a one-month span.


Sporting KC earned a 3-0 victory over Columbus in the previous meeting. The defeat marks the lone Crew loss in five matches played under interim Head Coach Brian Bliss. Columbus is currently in the midst of a three-game winning streak with Bliss at the helm.


Sporting KC can clinch a playoff spot this weekend if they defeat Columbus and two of these three scenarios happen:


  • New England Revolution loses at New York Red Bulls
  • Chicago Fire loses at D.C. United
  • Philadelphia Union loses to Toronto FC


The Boulevard Members Club at Sporting Park will host the team's official watch party on Saturday with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. CT and parking available in Lot D. All in attendance will receive a free Sprint Sporting KC scarf and can enter to win a VIP experience for the club's Oct. 18 regular season home finale. Food and drink specials will be available, including $3 KC Pils and Bud Light.


ERIK PALMER-BROWN NAMED TO US U-18 MNT ROSTER


Sporting KC homegrown defender Erik Palmer-Brown was named to the U.S. U-18 MNT 18-player roster for a four-team international tournament in Limoges, France from Oct. 6-14. The U.S. U-18 MNT will face France, Czech Republic and Poland during the nine-day tournament.


U.S. U-18 MNT head coach Javier Perez selected his 18-player roster after the conclusion of a week-long training camp at U.S. Soccer's National Training Center in Carson, Calif., from Sept. 22-29. The 18-players selected from the 36-player pool that attended camp will depart Sunday, Oct. 6, for Paris, France to play France on Wednesday, Oct. 9 in their first match.

Sporting KC goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen is one of five players nominated for MLS Save of the Week. The White Puma denied Philadelphia's Michael Farfan with a kick save in the 63rd minute of the match on Friday at Sporting Park. Nielsen leads all goalkeepers (800 minutes minimum) with a 0.97 goals against average.


Other nominees for the weekly award include Philadelphia's Zac MacMath, Chivas USA's Dan Kennedy, LA Galaxy's Jamie Panedo and D.C. United's Joe Willis. Cast your vote for MLS Save of the Week here. KC FASHION WEEK TO FEATURE AURELIEN COLLIN'S AC78
Sporting KC All-Star Aurelien Collin launched a new men's fashion line, AC78, during events surrounding the 2013 MLS All-Star Game in Kansas City. KC Fashion Week, beginning on Thursday, will feature AC78 during the opening Designer Showcase at Union Station.

AC78 will headline the showcase on Thursday night. Other designers that will be on display Thursday are Chelsea Riane Designs, Kaity Rathman Designs, Little Shell Designs, Recrudesence, Erin Paige Designs, Haus of Donna Faye, Audrea Marie Long Designs and Whitney Manney. The showcase will begin at 9:30 p.m. CT.

Prior to the show at Union Station, Collin will be participating in a presentation of his line at Halls department store on the Country Club Plaza from 5-7 p.m. CT.


SPORTING KC TO HOST CD OLIMPIA IN FINAL GROUP STAGE CCL MATCH
Sporting Kansas City will need to win or draw in their final group stage match on Oct. 23 at Sporting Park to advance to the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals. A limited number of tickets are still available for the match, beginning at 7 p.m. CT, and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or at the Sporting Park Box Offices on gameday.


TICKETS ON SALE FOR BIG 12 SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP AT SWOPE SOCCER VILLAGE
Tickets for the 2013 Big 12 Soccer Championship are now available through Ticketmaster. The Championship will take place Nov. 6, 8 and 10 at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City.To purchase tickets visit Big12Sports.com. Day passes cost $9, three-day tournament passes are $14 and 20-ticket group packages are available for $120.


Sporting Club and the University of Kansas will co-host this year's championship, which will feature the Big 12's top eight teams competing for the Conference's postseason title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division 1 Women's Soccer Championship.


SPORTING KC IN THE COMMUNITY
Sporting KC's Graham Zusi and Matt Besler will make a special appearance at ShopMo Sports (874 S. State Rte 291) in Liberty, Mo, from 6-7:30 p.m. CT tonight. The U.S. Men's National Team duo will meet fans, sign autographs and take pictures with customers throughout the event.

BRADEN'S HOPE/SPORTING KC CALENDARS NOW ON SALE
For the second consecutive year, Sporting KC has partnered with Braden's Hope to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer. Sporting KC fans can support the cause by purchasing the Braden's Hope/Sporting KC calendar. The 2014 calendar features 12 different Sporting KC players paired with childhood cancer heroes.


Calendars can be purchased at Sporting Style stores at Sporting Park as well as online at bradenshope.org. All of the proceeds from calendar sales go directly to raise awareness and funds for targeted treatments of childhood cancer.

SPORTING PARK TO HOST U.S. MNT IN FINAL HOME WORLD CUP QUALIFIER
The U.S. Men's National Team booked their spot to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil with their 2-0 win over Mexico in Columbus. Sporting Park will host the USMNT on Oct. 11 in the team's final home qualifying match for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in front of a sold-out crowd. The U.S. MNT returns to Sporting Park to play Jamaica, live on ESPN, WatchESPN and UniMas at 5:30 p.m. CT. 


PETER VERMES TO BE INDUCTED INTO NATIONAL SOCCER HALL OF FAME ON OCT. 11


U.S. Soccer announced that former U.S. Men's National Team forwards Peter Vermes and Joe-Max Moore will be inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame on Oct. 11 in a ceremony taking place at 2 p.m. CT on the Sprint Plaza at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan. The event is free and open to the public.

Sporting Kansas City is now taking deposits for new season ticket members for the 2014 season at state-of-the-art Sporting Park. The non-refundable deposits are $150 per seat for premium areas and $50 per seat for all other sections and provide fans with priority position for securing full season tickets in 2014.


Additionally, all fans on the Sporting Kansas City season ticket member waiting list will be given access to pre-sale opportunities for select special events at Sporting Park (subject to availability).
