SPORTING KC DEFEATS NY 1-0 IN PRESEASON MATCH
Sporting Kansas City defeated the New York Red Bulls 1-0 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Wednesday in the club's first preseason match since arriving in Orlando last week.
Jacob Peterson scored the lone goal of the match in the 65th minute. Second-year pro Christian Duke played the ball into the Red Bulls penalty area and Peterson capitalized on a poor touch by the Red Bulls defender, sliding to intercept the back pass and knocking the ball past Castano to give Sporting KC the 1-0 victory. Sporting Kansas City also played a scrimmage against Eastern Florida State College on Wednesday, earning a 2-0 victory over the local university with goals from SuperDraft selection Adnan Gabeljic and guest trialist Carlos Sanchez.


TEAL BUNBURY TRADED TO NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION
Sporting Kansas City traded forward Teal Bunbury to the New England Revolution on Wednesday in exchange for New England's first round pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft and allocation money.


Bunbury scored 21 goals and added seven assists in 94 games in MLS competition (including playoffs) since being drafted by Sporting KC with the fourth overall pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft as a Generation adidas signing out of Akron.


SOONY SAAD FEATURED FOR LEBANON IN 3-1 VICTORY OVER PAKISTAN
Sporting Kansas City striker Soony Saad started and played 75 minutes for Lebanon on Wednesday in a 3-1 victory over Pakistan at Saida International Stadium. Walid Ismail (6'), Hussein Awada (14') and Zein Tahan (85') scored for Lebanon in the international friendly, while Kaleemullah (16') struck for the visitors.


Lebanon are preparing for their 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualifying finale against Thailand on March 5 at Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok. Lebanon is currently in third place in Group B behind Iran and Kuwait.


PRICE CHOPPER BECOMES FIRST TEAM PARTNER OF SPORTING KC
Price Chopper recently signed a multi-year agreement with Sporting Kansas City to become the presenting partner of the Sporting Club Network. Price Chopper is the newest of five "First Team" founding level partnerships for the 2013 MLS Cup Champions. The locally owned company comes in as the club's official grocery partner and will take an ownership position in the youth soccer space.


The Sporting Club Network provides a platform for Price Chopper to reach and support multiple organizations. The Sporting Club Network features 45 affiliates with more than 50,000 members in six states across the Midwest.


SPORTING KC ACADEMY U17's WIN US YOUTH FUTSAL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
The Sporting Kansas City U17 Academy team was crowned champions on Monday at U.S. Youth Futsal Nationals, held at the New Century Fieldhouse in New Century, Kan. Coached by Jon Parry, the U17's defeated FC Black Knights (Belmont, MA) 6-3 in the final to cap off a strong showing at the tournament.


U.S. Youth Futsal Nationals is the largest youth futsal tournament sanctioned by U.S. Soccer and is now in its eighth year of competition. U.S. Youth Futsal has 60 leagues in cities across the country and hosts nine regional tournaments that serve as qualifiers for Nationals. View the U17 Academy team's results here.
