Dom Dwyer's stoppage-time stunner wins MLS Goal of the Week

Sporting Kansas City forward Dom Dwyer was announced on Friday as the Week 4 winner in MLSsoccer.com's Goal of the Week voting. Dwyer's goal came in the 92nd minute of a 3-2 win at Colorado last Saturday, his second game-winning goal in as many games to lift Sporting KC into second place in the Eastern Conference standings.


Dwyer has five goals and two assists in 27 MLS appearances (including postseason) to go along with one goal in CONCACAF Champions League competition. In 2013, Dwyer set the USL PRO regular season goal scoring record with 15 goals in 13 games while on loan with Orlando City SC and was named the USL PRO Championship MVP with four goals in the final.

Dwyer received nearly 30 percent of votes cast on MLSsoccer.com, finishing ahead of Real Salt Lake forward Alvaro Saborio. Dwyer and Saborio will face off on Saturday in an MLS Cup rematch at Sporting Park (7:30 p.m. CT on KMCI 38 the Spot and SKCTV) with a limited number of tickets available via Ticketmaster.com.
