Sporting KC sets attendance record at Sporting Park in 2014

Sporting Kansas City has set a new club attendance record of 340,058 (20,003 per match) for the 2014 Major League Soccer regular season. The club's currrent MLS sell-out streak is at 53 matches, dating back to 2012.

In addition to 17 sold out MLS regular season matches in 2014, Sporting Park hosted three CONCACAF Champions League matches, four CONCACAF Women's Championship matches, two Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches, and one Champions Cup match (Sporting KC vs EPL champions Manchester City).

Along with Sporting KC, Major League Soccer also set a new attendance record of 6,184,350 (19,147 per match) with eight clubs averaging over 20,000 per match.

Sporting KC begins the 2014 MLS Cup Playoffs on Thursday night at the New York Red Bulls (7:00 p.m. CT, ESPN2) and with a win would host first place D.C. United on Sunday in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Tickets for that potential first leg are available now on Ticketmaster.com
