Dom Dwyer's classy finish voted MLS Goal of the Week

Dom Dwyer - Sporting KC vs New England Revolution - May 20, 2015

Chest. Swivel. Volley.

Dom Dwyer made it look easy, dispatching a 29th-minute goal that ignited Sporting Kansas City’s rally in a 4-2 win over New England last Wednesday. Of the 24 goals scored across Major League Soccer in Week 12, none were more impressive.

Today the strike was voted AT&T MLS Goal of the Week, Dwyer’s second such honor of his career after he first claimed the award in March 2014. The Englishman won 35.3 percent of the vote, edging out the long-range blast from Toronto FC newcomer Sebastian Giovinco (30.34 percent).

This is the second Goal of the Week award for a Sporting Kansas City player in 2015, coming four weeks after Benny Feilhaber’s thunderous volley in Week 8.

Second on the team with four goals this season, Dwyer joins seven of his Sporting Kansas City teammates on the 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game fan ballot. Voting is open through 2 p.m. CT on July 3 via MLSsoccer.com, social media and EA SPORTS FIFA 15.
