It's been an exciting week for Sporting KC and Manager Peter Vermes. Last Wednesday, the team defeated Real Salt Lake 3-1 in the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinals. The win clinched a date with Philadelphia Union in the U.S. Open Cup Final and moved Peter Vermes into first place in club history for most wins across all competitions.
Three days later, Sporting KC then came from behind to defeat the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-3 at Sporting Park. Vermes' squad was down 3-1 heading into the 80th minute, but Dom Dwyer and reigning MLS Player of the Week Paulo Nagamura propelled the team to a historic victory.
The win moved Vermes into sole possession of 8th place on Major League Soccer's all-time regular season wins chart, breaking a tie with former Kansas City head coach Bob Gansler.
