2016 preseason stats: Sporting KC spreads the wealth in Tucson

Sporting Kansas City's unbeaten 2016 preseason is in the books.

Over the course of a month in Tucson, Arizona, the club earned two wins and four draws while outscoring its opponents 13-6. And if one statistical narrative stands out, it's the balanced approach Manager Peter Vermes employed during his team's preparations for a busy 2016 campaign that will include regular season, Open Cup and CONCACAF Champions League action.

In Sporting Kansas City's six tune-ups at Kino Sports Complex, 29 players featured and 26 received starts. Ten players accounted for the 13 goals and eight players combined for 10 assists. Twenty-two squad members logged at least 160 minutes, but only Tim Melia reached the 300-minute mark — and only just at 301.

Based on goalscoring involvement, Dom Dwyer and Connor Hallisey led the way with two goals and two assists each. No others played a part in more than two goals.

  • Most games started: Jordi Quintilla (5)
  • Most minutes played: Tim Melia (301), Amadou Dia and Connor Hallisey (299)
  • Most goals: Dom Dwyer, Connor Hallisey and Paulo Nagamura (2)
  • Most assists: Dom Dwyer and Connor Hallisey (2)
