Sporting Kansas City striker Soony Saad was named to Lebanonā€™s roster for an upcoming 2019 AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Malaysia on June 13. The match will take place at Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur.

Saad has seven caps for Lebanonā€™s national team after making his debut for The Cedars in a friendly against Oman in May 2013. The 24-year-old striker scored on his debut for Lebanon and has tallied twice more for the national team.

Lebanon is currently in first place in Group B after having defeated Hong Kong 2-0 in March. The top two teams from each group will advance to the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. Lebanon has only qualified once for the tournament. In 2000, they finished in tenth place after losing to Iran and drawing Iraq and Thailand in the group stage.

Saad has featured in nine games in 2017 with four starts and one assist. The Michigan native spent the first four years of his career with Sporting KC before playing two years in Thailand. Saad has 67 MLS appearances with eight goals and seven assists.
