Ahead of Wednesday's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match at Houston, SportingKC.com caught up with Dynamo broadcaster Glenn Davis to preview #HOUvSKC. Live coverage of Wednesday's match (5:30 p.m. CT) is available on SportingKC.com. Additional coverage is available via Matchcenter or @SKCMatchday.

What are your thoughts on the Dynamo’s 1-1 draw on Friday against FC Dallas?

I think the match was even from many standpoints. Neither team was the sharpest in the final third and at times in the second half FC Dallas had five across the back and defending with 8. Still it was on the Dynamo to break them down and in the end both teams combined for few real goal scoring chances. It was not the most scintillating of games .

What kind of lineup are you expecting to see from the Dynamo on Wednesday? Do you expect many changes from Friday’s Starting XI?

Well if Wilmer Cabrera plays a lineup similar to in the last round of the Open Cup you will see players from their USL affiliate.  The question is if he gets tempted to use more of his regulars based on advancing deeper. My gut is the focus is on Colorado and you will see the use of more of the roster so yes I think there will be changes but that is not a revelation.

What’s been the key to the Dynamo’s success this season?

Change of "purpose of play" and style. Improved signings and talent is a no brainer. Team speed has been added in the form of Alberth Ellis, Romell Quioto while experience has been added with winners like Adolfo Machado, Leonardo, Aj DeLa Garza added to the team. At home the Dynamo have been highly entertaining to watch so the product is the best it has been in many years.

Which will you be watching on Wednesday?

I think based on player changes these match ups will develop organically. Both coaches will want to test and assess some that have not gotten a lot of playing time. It will be opportunity for players to produce in front of their managers.

What do you think will be the keys to Wednesday’s match?

Whose squad can be most cohesive under the conditions in Houston and who takes the Open Cup seriously from the standpoint of winning.
