SPR forward Nansel Selbol earns USL Goal of the Week honors

Swope Park Rangers forward Nansel Selbol has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 15 after his clinical finish earned a 1-0 victory over LA Galaxy II at StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium last Friday. The 20-year-old earned 41 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com.

VOTE: Selbol up for USL Goal of the Month

Selbol entered the game as a substitute in the 61st minute and just two minutes later, he found himself on the scoresheet. Sporting KC loanee Tyler Pasher burst forward down the left and cut the ball back to the Sporting KC Academy product who took a touch before firing into the bottom corner for the game-winning goal.

Selbol threatened twice more in the match, as first he saw a looping shot cannon off the crossbar before later beating his man and forcing an excellent stop from Galaxy II goalkeeper Eric Lopez. Selbol now has three goals and one assist in 11 appearances this season, already eclipsing his numbers from the entire 2016 campaign.

The Swope Park Rangers are back in action this weekend with a matchup against Rio Grande Valley FC at Children’s Mercy Victory Field in Swope Soccer Village. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT with tickets available via SeatGeek.com, while the game will be live streamed on SportingKC.com.
