Jimmy Medranda and Gerso - June 3, 2017

Sporting Kansas City winger Gerso and midfielder Jimmy Medranda have obtained their U.S. green cards and will no longer occupy international slots on the roster, the club announced Tuesday.

Sporting Kansas City now has seven international players on its roster: Latif Blessing, Cristian Lobato, Soni Mustivar, Tyler Pasher, Diego Rubio, Daniel Salloi and Ilie. The club has one open international slot, with Major League Soccer’s secondary transfer window running until Aug. 9.

Gerso, 26, leads Sporting Kansas City with eight goals in all competitions this season. The Bissau-Guinean joined the club in January as a Designated Player and has featured in all 22 competitive matches, including 21 starts.

Medranda, 23, has also appeared in every Sporting Kansas City match this season, logging 17 starts with one goal and one assist. The versatile Colombian signed for Sporting KC in 2013 and became a regular fixture in the lineup during the 2016 campaign.
