Sporting Kansas City advanced to the final of the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday with a penalty kick shootout victory over the San Jose Earthquakes. The two teams were tied 1-1 after 120 minutes, but Sporting KC goalkeeper Tim Melia made two saves in the shootout to lead his team to victory.
