SPR forward Nansel Selbol wins 2017 USL Goal of the Year competition

Swope Park Rangers striker Nansel Selbol has won the 2017 USL Fans' Choice Goal of the Year competition. The 20-year-old's brilliant curling strike against Seattle Sounders FC 2 on July 20 beat out Colorado Springs Switchbacks' Masta Kacher's long-range effort with 52 percent of the vote in the Final.

The Sporting KC Academy product had knocked off another of his goals in the Round of 16 before advancing beyond Louisville City FC's Mark-Anthony Kaye in the Quarterfinals and FC Cincinnati's Andrew Wiedeman in the Semifinals.

Selbol has spent two seasons with the Rangers since stepping up from the Sporting KC Academy, making 55 appearances in all competitions and tallying 10 goals and four assists - including nine goals and two assists in 2017. Selbol also scored in his lone appearance for Sporting KC in a 3-1 victory over Central FC in the 2016 CONCACAF Champions League group stage.
