SKC Alekzandur qualifies for 2018 FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final

Competing under the gamer name SKC Alekzandur, 19-year-old Kansas City native Alex Betancourt has qualified for the 2018 FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final, a 32-player tournament running from Aug. 2-4 in London to determine the world's best FIFA player.

The Global Series Playoffs for the eWorld Cup Grand Final took place Monday and Tuesday in Amsterdam, Netherlands, with Alekzandur among the six eMLS representatives competing in a field of the world's 128 best EA SPORTS FIFA 18 players.

Following multiple rounds of qualifying matches, Alekzandur was one of 16 players to punch a ticket to the FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final, joining 16 others who have already sealed their berth in the Xbox One tournament.

Alekzandur previously represented Sporting KC in April as the club's first official eMLS competitor. He advanced to the conference semifinals of the inaugural eMLS Cup at the PAX East gaming festival inside the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

At the 2018 FIFA eWorld Cup, 32 finalists – all of whom have qualified for the event through the EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs – will compete for the ultimate Grand Prize: the FIFA eWorld Cup title. As well as claiming a sizable cash prize, the winner will also receive a trip to the Best FIFA Football Awards at the end of the year.
