KC2026 commercial to air on FOX4 during World Cup Final on Sunday

Kansas City has a storied history as host to many of the biggest games in American sports. World Series and Final Fours. U.S. Open Cup Finals and MLS Cup. MLB and MLS All-Star Games. The NFL Pro Bowl.


Now it's time to bring the World Cup to Kansas City.


Thousands have shown their support by signing the petition at KC2026.com and over a hundred thousand more will be watching the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final on Sunday live locally on FOX4 when the campaign will be showcased with a 30-second commercial during halftime.


Sunday's match between France and Croatia kicks off at 10 a.m. CT at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow with four hours of coverage on FOX beginning at 9 a.m. CT and leading into a marquee MLS match-up between Atlanta United FC and Seattle Sounders FC at 1 p.m. CT.


No Other Pub in the Kansas City Power and Light District downtown will open at 9 a.m. on Sunday to show the matches on the venue’s 10' by 15' video wall and surrounding HDTV screens. A breakfast menu will be served from 9-11 a.m., followed by NOP's Sunday food/drink specials -- $1 tacos, $2 off appetizers, $3 domestic drafts and $4 call cocktails -- beginning at 11 a.m.


Four years ago, the FIFA World Cup Final was watched by an estimated 34.4 million Americans nationwide, making it the most-viewed soccer game in U.S. television history. Internationally, the total audience for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final hit 1.013 billion.


The 2026 FIFA World Cup was awarded to North America last month with Kansas City in contention as one of 23 Candidate Host Cities across the United States, Mexico and Canada. The 2026 competition will be the first World Cup to be co-hosted by three countries and will also be the first in the expanded 48-team, 80-match format. 


Kansas City, within a one-day drive for over 50 million Americans, is located in the heart of it all with a rapidly growing infrastructure of amenities and accommodations. Kansas City has been selected to host numerous international soccer matches in recent years and continues to attract major events within the sport.


Children's Mercy Park will host the reigning World Cup champion U.S. Women's National Team during a Tournament of Nations doubleheader, featuring four of the top eight teams in the FIFA women's rankings, on July 26 and will also host a 2019 Concacaf Golf Cup doubleheader next summer.
